At the double, advance!

We moved blocks at the beginning of the week and we’re now in a much more modern building with bigger rooms.  It was a lot of hard work moving, but I feel quite settled in now and we’re all gradually making it feel like home.

I have been looking forward to this week since I started here.  We’ve had a lot of BCDT (Battlefield Casualty Drills Training) which is first aid, and a lot of battle physical training (battle PT).  I really enjoyed learning about first aid because you never know when you will need it – even in normal day-to-day life.

The most exciting thing we did this week was definitely bayonet training. It was very physical, and we had to do loads of crawling through mud whenever “grenade” was called out but, like I said, I absolutely loved it!

Next week is SDW (Soldier Development Week) where we go to Wales and carry out Adventure Training activities such as rock climbing, caving, hill walking and kayaking. This is such a good chance to get to know more about the lads and the training team.  SDW is all about team building – we do lots of activities where we encourage each other to work together.

I am really loving it here and can’t wait for the next challenge. The weeks are absolutely flying by now – it is mad to think that we only have five weeks left.  Phase 2 is almost in sight.
